To start your journey with us, please send an email to emf@lists.ist.ac.at. Your email should contain your profile and project details as outlined below, and if you are not a PI, please include the PI in the CC.
Your Profile
- Indicate whether you are a PhD student (rotating or affiliated), Postdoc, Visiting Scientist, Intern, or PI.
- Specify the research group with which you are affiliated.
- To collaborate with ISTA, external users are required to enter into a cooperation agreement. For further details, please contact our Manager, Mr. Ludek Lovicar.
Project Details
Provide a concise overview of your project objectives, including:
- Sample description
- Access to relevant literature or articles
Indicate whether you require equipment training or assisted experimental sessions.

- Project Discussion Meeting
Following the review of your initial email, we will schedule a meeting to discuss your project requirements in further detail. After the project meeting, please complete the cooperation agreement form. Ensure you include the cost center and obtain the signature of the PI.
- Materials
Kindly note that we only accept materials classified as BS1 for analysis.
- Training and Sessions
For hands-on training, please have a suitable sample ready. Be aware that training is intended for skill development rather than data collection.
If requesting assistance, specify whether it pertains to sample preparation, data acquisition, or data analysis.
- Prerequisite
To work in the EM facility, one must complete the Safety Briefing for Newcomers and Liquid Nitrogen Handling Training, both provided by the Lab Support Facility.
